There are a host of great reasons to take part in Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon’s 10th anniversary event on May 28th and 29th this year, here are just some of the reasons why you should make the Castle Estate your destination race in Ireland in 2022.
Race Director, Brian Adcock, first visited Lough Cutra Castle in 2011 and fell in love with the place. 2012 saw the first Castle Triathlon event in Ireland and they are still going strong!
Castle Triathlon first hosted a COVID safe event in September 2020. All their races in 2021 were run in line with COVID protocols, so they have a lot of experience in helping athletes to compete with peace of mind. Lough Cutra Castle 2022 will be Castle Triathlon’s 10th COVID safe race.
The new 2.5K and 5K swim only routes in Galway will see swimmers enjoy out and back routes making for an even more memorable swim experience in the largest privately owned lake in Europe!
The Castle Triathlon team have been busy in the off season working with the relevant authorities in both Clare and Galway to get the cycle route surfaces improved.
Working with the castle estate, the team have also continued with their programme of upgrading the internal estate tracks and paths so that the Deer Park loop is now both a thing of natural and running beauty to be enjoyed as you clock up the miles.
The children’s races are now all on the same afternoon ( on the Sunday) of the race weekend and offer some of the most stunning, friendly, fun and challenging races on the junior circuit in Ireland for 2022.
The festival side of the Lough Cutra Castle events just gets better and better with the return of Irish house band the Treblemakers, an improved trade village and delicious food concessions for athletes and spectators to enjoy as they cheer on the athletes making their way round the course.
