12 National Cross Championship Titles Up for Grabs

ByEmma Porter |

The 123.ie National Intermediate, Masters and Juvenile B Cross Country Championships will take place this weekend (February 15th) at the Sport Ireland National Cross Country Course, promising another competitive day of athletics action.

Sunday’s 12-race programme will commence at 11:30am with the Girls U11 1000m. The Intermediate Women’s 4000m race is scheduled for 2:40pm, followed by the Intermediate Men’s 6000m at 3:15pm.

The course is going to take some getting used to for those chasing national honours at the weekend. Following recent adverse weather conditions, race distances have been revised with each race set to be contested over a 1km loop.

Last year’s championships, held at Westport House in Co. Mayo, saw Abaas Adam Edris (Castlegar AC) and Helena Butterly (Clonliffe Harriers AC) deliver outstanding performances to claim the Intermediate titles in a highly competitive edition of the event.

The Masters races consistently showcase exceptional depth and quality, underlined last year by impressive victories from Olympian Lizzie Lee (Leevale AC) and Colm Rooney (Clonliffe Harriers).
