The UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships return to their standalone format for 2025 after two exceptional years which saw the para-cycling events integrated with the able-bodied World Championship events.
For the first time the Flemish city of Ronse hosts the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships. Although these roads will be new for the para-cycling World Championships they will be familiar to professional riders in the World Tour and Women’s World Tour with events like Ronde Van Vlaanderen passing through.
The event takes place from 28th to 31st August. Expressions of interest are now open for selection to represent Ireland in road and time trial events, and will close at midnight on Sunday 8th June, with selections taking place the week following.
National Para-Cycling Coach Jamie Blanchfield is looking forward to the World Championships after a successful spring campaign in the UCI Road World Cups in Belgium and Italy, saying, “Early on in the new Paralympic cycle, the World Championships are all about rebuilding, refining our processes and laying the groundwork for what’s next. It’s a great opportunity to see who’s stepping up and start building momentum with an eye towards 2026 when qualification begins, and ultimately the Los Angeles Games in 2028.”
