ByEmma Porter |

The Cyclo-cross National Series heads to Thurles, Co. Tipperary this weekend for Round 3, with Upperchurch Drombane Cycling Club will play host when riders take on the course at TUS Thurles on Sunday, 24th of November.

Tadhg Killeen of Kilcullen Cycling Club Murphy Geospatial has won two from two in the series so far and leads the overall standings going into Round 3. He’ll be hoping to continue this form, having just yesterday been named as one of the riders to represent Ireland at next week’s UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Dublin. Richard Barry from St. Finbarrs CC currently sits in second place, having finished second to Killeen in the last round in Clonbur, Co. Galway. Timothy O’Regan from All Human/VeloRevolution Racing is in third just eight points behind Barry.

In the Women’s category, Caoimhe May from Orwell Wheelers currently leads the series, having taken second and first place in rounds one and two respectively. She is also selected to represent Ireland at the UCI World Cup event in Dublin next weekend. Elena Wallace of Harps CC, also riding for Ireland next week in Dublin, sits in second position, with Stephanie Roche from Scott Racing in third.

Team WORC’s Greta Lawless is the highest place Junior female rider, just ahead of Aoife O’Donovan from Dungarvan CC. Both riders will represent Ireland at the UCI World Cup event in Dublin next weekend, where Lawless will be looking to win her second UCI event in as many months, following her win at Cross Clonmel in October.

A fifth-place finish in Round 1 for Hugh Og Mulhearne was followed by a comprehensive win in the second round, and leaves the Verge Sport PI Cycles rider sitting top of the Junior Men’s category. Greenmount’s Ciaran O’Sullivan is currently only three points behind Mulhearne, while Spellman Dublin Port’s Curtis McKee sits third having missed the second round.
