The 2026 road season will open with two races on February 28th, the Dublin Wheelers Open Races in Dublin/Meath and the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP in Co. Down, and end with the Hill Climb National Championships on October 3rd, with an Ulster venue still to be announced.
National Grade Events
2025 saw several changes made to the structures around road racing in Ireland, including the introduction of National Grade Road Races in place of the National Series. This year will see the retention of the National Grade races, opening with the Seamus Kennedy Memorial, hosted by Navan RC on March 1st.
A week later the second National Grade race of the year will take place in Cork with the Sliabh Luachra Clasaici on March 8th. The Donal Crowley and Kay Stratton Memorial Races are next on the National Grade calendar set for March 15th in Blarney, Co. Cork.
Drogheda Wheelers will host Coombes Connor on the 22nd of March, before the Des Hanlon Memorial takes place on March 29th in Carlow.
The PJ Logan Cup is set to be hosted by Island Wheelers in Tyrone on April 12th, while the John Drumm Cup takes place on April 19th in Kerry, hosted by Currow.
The Waller Cup will take place on April 26th as Bohermeen host in Co. Meath, and a brief break from National Grade action brings us to the Galway Classic on June 7th before the Noel Teggart Memorial a week later on June 14th in Co. Down.
The Sean Nolan Meath GP takes place on June 21st.
Lakeside Wheelers are set to host the Mullingar GP on July 5th. Moynalty will host a week later as the Moynalty GP takes place in Meath on July 12th.
Racing returns to Galway on July 19th for the Brian and Cora McNamara Tuam GP. Another short break from National Grade events follows the Tuam GP before the Bobby Crilly Classic on August 16th to round out the National Grade events for the year.
Stage Racing
Rás Maigheo is the first stage race on this year’s calendar, taking on the 21st and 22nd of March, while Dornan Rás Mumhan will run from April 3rd – 6th. The Gorey 3 Day will take place from April 4th – 6th.
The O’Leary Stone Kanturk 3 Day will take place from May 2nd to 5th, with the Cotter Cup taking place later that month over May 16th – 17th.
Rás Tailteann will be held from May 20th to 24th this year.
The Newry 3 Day will take place from July 3rd to 5th.
The Junior Tour of Ireland returns to Clare, and will take place from July 7th to 12th.
Newcastle West CC will once again host the PJ O’Riordan Memorial, taking in three stages over two days, the 8th and 9th of August.
Rás na mBan is back for it’s 20th edition from September 2nd to 6th.
The Charleville 2 Day returns for the 5th and 6th of September as the final stage race of the year.
National Championships
The Criterium National Championships are set to take place in Dublin on May 17th.
Time Trial National Championships are set for the 25th of June in Mayo, before the road race National Championships on June 28th and 29th, also set for Co. Mayo.
Masters National Championships are set to take place on the 12th and 13th of September in Munster, with a venue still to be confirmed.
Gravel National Championships are set to be held in Munster on September 20th.
Hill Climb National Championships will round out the road calendar, taking place in Ulster on October 3rd.
