Cornyn & Kinsella Win in Naas

Round Three of the Duathlon National Series visited Galco Naas Duathlon for the second time this season, with Niall Cornyn and Aine Kinsella emerging the winners.

A cold but dry day at Punchestown saw the iconic racing venue transformed for multisport racing, with transition taking place in front of the grandstand.  The second of Naas TC’s Galco Naas Duathlons provided another super morning of racing for the eager duathletes on the startline. A 3.2km run around Punchestown Racecourse, a 19 kilometre bike in the Kildare countryside, and a final 3.2km run lay ahead.

Cornyn Takes Second Win of the Week

Current Duathlon National Series title holder Niall Cornyn followed up last week’s win with another solid performance this week at Punchestown. Leading from the off Cornyn built a lead of almost four minutes across the sprint distance course, finishing in 51:35.

Behind Cornyn, Ross Killalea from Midland Triathlon Club and Conor Talty finished in second and third.

Kinsella Opens Duathlon Season With Win in Naas

Waterford TC’s Aine Kinsella led the women’s field from the first run to the finish line. Always one to watch on a multisport start line, Kinsella is the current Duathlon National Series title holder.

Pulse Triathlon Club’s Carmel Moran put together a solid run, bike, run performance to claim the second spot on the podium in 1:05:44, Karen Gillman in third with 1:06:58.
