Luke McCarron continued his Top 10 form at 2026 Africa Triathlon Cup Troutbeck over the weekend. McCarron came home in 7th position, just 90 seconds away from the podium.
Exiting the water with a group 30 seconds down on the race leaders, McCarron was forced to chase on the bike. However, the chasing group appears to have split, with McCarron coming in to T2 slightly behind some of his rivals. Despite this, he put in a strong 5k split with the second fastest run time of the day to claw back time on a number of athletes.
The race was won by Lasse Lührs of Germany, who was part of the Paris 2024 gold medal Mixed Relay Team.
He’ll now switch his attention to the 2026 Africa Triathlon Premium Cup Swakopmund, on the 21st of March, in Namibia before returning to South Africa the following week for his final race in this African block.
