The 2026 Women’s National Road Series will take on an exciting new format, combining what was previously the Intermediate League and the National Series.
The series will include five rounds starting at the end of March with the Des Hanlon Memorial. The series will conclude in early August with the Collins Christle Memorial.
| Date | Race | Host Club |
| 29th of March 2026 | Des Hanlon Memorial | Carlow RCC |
| 26th of April 2026 | Waller Cup | Bohermeen CC |
| 7th of June 2026 | Debbie Barclay Memorial | VC Glendale |
| 5th of July 2026 | Mullingar GP | Lakeside Wheelers |
| 9th of August 2026 | Collins Christle Memorial | Navan RC |
The new format for 2026 has been carefully considered to give the best experience possible to those taking part. Riders ranked W3, which includes those who are new to road racing, will be given a handicapped start on the W1’s and W2’s.
Depending on numbers, W1’s and W2’s may be combined as one group or separated to create three distinct categories on the road. This will allow for newer or less experienced riders to compete with those of similar level and learn the ins and outs of road racing in a more comfortable environment, while also giving them a chance to race riders of a higher standard later in the race should the racing come back together. The series will also be open to Juniors racing in their respective categories.
The series will have an overall prize pot of €1,000 and will crown a winner in each category, including Junior.
Speaking about the series, Jennifer Bates, Chairperson of the Women’s Commission said, “The Women’s Commission is proud to launch a new series for 2026 which is a combination of previous National Series and Intermediate league. We hope by doing this it raises the standards while widening participation at the same time. Whether you’re new to racing or looking to progress, this series is about creating opportunities for every rider to get involved.”
