The second round of the H&MV Para-cycling National League delivered another exciting day of competition. The event, hosted by Starsky Cycling Club included both Time Trial and Road Race events in Hand Bike, Solo, Tandem, and Junior categories.
In the Time Trial events, Steven McGowan set the pace in the Hand Bike category, taking first place ahead of Declan Slevin and Seamus Wall. In the solo competition (factored time), Richael Timothy claimed victory, with Heather Jamson and Cormac O’Callaghan rounding out the podium.
The Tandem Time Trial saw a strong performance from Sinead Greenan and Eve McCrystal, who secured first place, followed by Damien Vereker and Mitch McLoughlin in second and Jessica Kennedy and Claire Ní Reachtagain in third.
In the Junior Solo category, Ciaran Kelly took first place just ahead of Senan Darcy.
The momentum continued into the Road Races, where Steven McGowan again dominated the Hand Bike category, repeating his Time Trial win. Richael Timothy also doubled up with another first place in the Solo race, ahead of Tojo Lazzari and Heather Jamson.
In the Tandem Road Race, Damien Vereker and Mitch McLoughlin moved up to first place on the podium, with Ben Cussen and Richard Barry in second, and Ciaran O’Toole and Con Scully in third. The Junior Solo race saw Senan Darcy take first place, with Ciaran Kelly finishing second.
The Para National League continues later this season with the next round taking place in Midleton on the 4th and 5th of June, before moving through a full calendar of time trials, road races, and a stage race across Ireland.
