This free webinar targeted at Food Sector SMEs and Start-ups will take place as part of a European project funded by the Atlantic Area Programme; AHFES.  Hosted by NUI Galway the webinar on Healthy Eating; The Psychology of Consumer Decision Making, will feature insights from experts in psychology and marketing on what influences consumers’ healthy eating habits and will be of interest to a wide variety of attendees across the health food industry.

Speakers include; Dr Elaine Wallace, Associate Professor in Marketing and Associate Director of the Whitaker Institute of Innovation and Societal Change at NUI Galway and Denis O’Hora, Course Director of the MSc in Consumer Psychology and Postgraduate Diploma in Consumer Behaviour and Analytics and  Siobhan Lawless, Owner and Managing Director of The Foods of Athenry.  The mix of presentations and panel Q & A will ensure an engaging and educational session for all attendees.

Speaking about the event Dr Jane Walsh Director mHealth Research Group & Senior Lecturer School of Psychology at NUI Galway said ”Understanding consumer behaviour is key to developing health food products and services that are appealing to a wide audience. This webinar should reveal some of the main psychological drivers of healthy eating, providing key insights to SMEs in the food industry this webinar is one not to be missed.”

Focusing on what influences consumer purchasing around healthy food, why some foods are more appealing (on the shelf) than others and what the key marketing tricks in selling food to consumers are. The webinar will provide attendees with unique insights and a deeper understanding of psychological influences on consumer food purchases which can inform and impact product design, development, advertising and ultimately sales and profitability.
