Bronze for Williamson in Besancon

ByEmma Porter |

Tom Williamson continued his run of success in the Men’s PTS5 category with yet another medal at the 2024 World Triathlon Para Cup Besancon, France, this weekend.

Williamson’s 2024 international season has seen him take to the startline six times, bringing home one silver and now three bronze medals so far this year. Speaking after the race, Williamson said, “A savage day out in Besançon, France. It was a privilege to compete amongst the world’s best once again. I was stoked to lead out the swim and start the run in first. However, my lead on the run was short-lived but I managed to hold on for 3rd.”

While the result is not enough to move him higher up the Paris Paralympic rankings, the weekend’s race saw him finish ahead of some current higher ranked athletes, showing that with two races left in the qualification window, it’s still all to play for.
