As the 33^rd Olympics gets underway this week in Paris Ireland has qualified one female and two male road cyclists, along with a female pursuit team for the first time.

Ryan Mullen will be the first cyclist competing as he takes on the Men’s Time Trial on the roads of the French capital on the 27^th. The event begins at 15.32 Irish time, and can be watched live on RTE2.

Mullen will take to the road again on August 3^rd with teammate Ben Healy. After a strong attacking performance for his team in the Tour de France, Ben Healy will be the designated lead for Team Ireland in the Men’s Road Race, and will be calling on the experienced Ryan Mullen to assist. The Men’s Road Race gets underway at 10am.

Ireland’s sole female Road Race competitor, Megan Armitage, will make her Olympic debut on August 4^th with that event starting at 13.00.

The Irish track team get their Olympic campaign underway on August 6^th. Lara Gillespie, Mia Griffin, Alice Sharpe and Kelly Murphy will feature in the Women’s Team Pursuit Qualifying at 16.30 at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome. Should they be successful they’ll go on to compete on the 7^th of August, with Round One taking place at 12.52 and the Gold Final at 17.57.

Alice Sharpe and Lara Gillespie take to the track again on August 9^th in the Madison event, starting at 17.09.

Lara Gillespie takes on the Women’s Omnium on August 11^th. The event begins with the Scratch race at 10am. The Tempo race starts at 10.57, followed by the Elimination race at 11.53. The Omium finishes out with the Points race at 12.56. Having missed out on a medal by a single point in this years European Track Championships, Lara will be looking forward to competing against the best in the world in Paris.

An Olympic highlight show on RTE2, on throughout the Olympics, will have coverage of all cycling events.
