Lisburn Duathlon Race Report

The 2025 SERE Lisburn Duathlon, took place yesterday at Down Royal Racecourse, across a fast, flat course with top-tier competition. The event attracted athletes from across the country, including several para-athletes from Brain Injury Matters.

Hosted at Gravelhill Road, Lisburn, the race featured a 3K run, 16.2K bike, and another 3K run—testing speed, endurance, and transition efficiency. The event got underway at 10:00am sharp following a comprehensive race briefing and a smooth registration process.

Participants were greeted with clear skies and light winds, ideal conditions for racing. The transition zone opened at 08:45, with athletes guided through safety checks and setup. Notably, the event welcomed several para-athletes from Brain Injury Matters, who delivered inspiring performances and added to the inclusive spirit of the day.

The flat and fast bike leg set the stage for some exciting duels, but it was sharp transitions and strong final runs that proved decisive in many age-group battles.

Overall Male Podium:

  1. Craig Harrison – 00:51:08
  2. Ciaran Denvir – 00:52:17
  3. Gary Jeffers – 00:52:26

Craig Harrison led from the front, opening with a sharp first run and consolidating his lead with a dominant bike leg. Denvir and Jeffers stayed in close pursuit but couldn’t close the gap in the final kilometres.

Overall Female Podium:

  1. Jennifer Hamilton – 1:00:21
  2. Anna McGinley – 1:00:57
  3. Martina McIntyre – 1:01:23

Jennifer Hamilton delivered a standout performance to take top honours, with an especially impressive bike split. McGinley and McIntyre followed closely in a highly competitive women’s field.
