Ava O’Connor (Tullamore Harriers) has broke the Irish U23 3000m Steeplechase record last night in California.
Competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, O’Connor ran a time of 9:46.22 to knock three seconds off the previous record which had been held by Fionnuala McCormack since 2006.
O’Connor’s time is under the A Standard for the European U23 Championships which take place in Bergen, Norway in July.
