West Clare Hosts National Grade Cycling

ByEmma Porter |

With the 2025 road racing season in full flow, the focus now shifts to the Wild Atlantic roads of West Clare for the 8th National Grade event of the year, the iconic Crotty Cup hosted by West Clare Cycling Club. Taking place on Saturday, May 10th, this historic race promises all out racing across three standalone events on one of Ireland’s oldest and most revered routes. Dating back to 1934, the Crotty Cup is a cornerstone of Irish cycling heritage. Set against the scenic yet punishing backdrop of the Clare coastline, the event draws a strong field each year with valuable series points on the line.

Rolling out from Kilrush Community School (V15 KT04), the course delivers a mix of long straights, rolling drags and wind exposed sections, perfect terrain for bold moves and tough racing. You can preview the route HERE.
