Ronan Dunne has taken third at the UCI World Mountain Bike Championships in Valais, Switzerland.
A strong performance in qualifying yesterday left Dunne full of confidence heading into today’s final.
Dunne’s time was less than two seconds off Candian winner Jackson Goldstone, and 0.047 seconds off second place Henri Kiefer of Germany.
This bronze medal comes off the back of Dunne taking the win in last week’s World Cup event in Les Gets.
These strong recent performances are welcome, following a tough first half of the year for Dunne, which saw crashes leave him out of action for several weeks at a time.
Henry Kerr was the next highest Irish finisher at 30th, with Limerick man Oisin O’Callaghan in 33rd.
Ireland’s final representative in this competition Jacob Dickson missed out on finals after a crash in Qualifying yesterday.
