After five months of racing, the 2025 Triathlon National Series has come to a close. This summer triathletes raced across 16 of the very best Sprint, Standard, and Middle Distance events in Ireland, with rankings determined by an athlete’s top four results, including at least one Sprint and one Standard race.
This year Triathlon Ireland introduced My Tri Ranking, powered by Triathlon Ireland Finance & Insights Partner AccountsIQ, enabling athletes to access their data and track their progress on the My Tri Ranking Triathlon Ireland pages throughout the season.
2025 Season Highlights
May 2025 kicked off a thrilling summer of racing, with the Triathlon National Series delivering 16 rounds of action across four provinces. From The Tribesman in Galway to Dublin City Triathlon, Hell of the West in Limerick to Top of the Mourne in County Down, and everything in between – athletes competed against Ireland’s most scenic backdrops. Battling the elements with a warm summer and a rather damp end to the season, triathletes remained focussed on securing their coveted Triathlon National Series points.

Emma O’Brien Wins 2025 Women’s Triathlon National Series
The women’s series came down to the wire – with one round to go there was less than one point separating 2024 Triathlon National Series winner Becky Woods and challenger Emma O’Brien. A solid win at the final round in Pulse Port Beach increased Emma’s score and secured the series with a tally of 917.71.
After spending some time in Australia, O’Brien’s 2025 season started in Athy where she took her first win. Success followed at Tribesman Triathlon, her home race at Base2Race Harbourman, Two Provinces and Pulse Port Beach. Emma also secured a silver medal at the Standard National Champs at Top of the Mourne, in a race won by Hollie Elliott.
On her win, Wicklow TC’s Emma said, “I’ve really enjoyed the racing this year – each event brought a unique course and such a great atmosphere.
“A huge thanks to all the local clubs and volunteers for organising the events. So much work goes on behind the scenes to make it all possible, and it’s hugely appreciated!”
Becky Woods won the series in 2024 and is always one to watch. Piranha TC member Woods finished her series with a win at Jailbreak in Cobh and has now turned her attention to defending her AG 70.3 World Title in Marbella. Racing across standard distance earned Becky her most valuable points hauls of the series, with TriAthy her highest points at 917.44. Becky Woods takes second spot overall in the 2025 series on a total of 913.4.
Aisling Wyer from Naas TC finishes in bronze on 883.55 after a solid season which included a win in the first race of the series at Clonmel and an impressive six podium finishes across the summer.
David Higgins Takes The 2025 Triathlon National Series Men’s Title
David Higgins has won the overall Triathlon National Series title for the first time, after a solid season of racing and a score of 895.7.
Higgins started his season at TriAthy, taking the win across standard distance, and managed to secure enough points across the required four races to win the series. Featuring on the podium at each outing, Higgins also won at the challenging Hell of the West and took second at Centra Fastnet Schull Triathlon and the Middle Distance National Champs at TriTyrone.
Speaking on his win, David said, “I’m very happy to win the National Series this season. Every race offered its own challenges this season and the standard of racing this year has definitely felt like it’s up a notch. Thanks to all my number one supporters who helped me get through the season.”
Naas Triathlon’s Donal Mongey had three wins this season, starting with a win at Round One Camida Clonmel and winning the last standard distance of the series at Wheelworx Pikeman Triathlon. Finishing on a total of 884.39, a win at Two Provinces and sixth at TriLimits also contributed to Mongey’s score.
On a score of 864.12, Christopher Horgan is third in the men’s Triathlon National Series after a busy season which also saw the Mallow TC triathlete finish third in the Duathlon National Series.
