A fantastic third day of competition at the UEC European Road Cycling Championships in Drôme Ardéche, France, saw David Gaffney podium in the Junior Men’s Road Race.

Gaffney took bronze in the Junior Men’s Road Race, finishing just 43 seconds before behind 1st place. Gaffney worked his way to the front after the first lap, holding his own over the next three.

Teammates Conor Murphy, Hugh Og Mulhearne, Matthew Walls, Rory Condon, and Toby Sweetman were also racing. Murphy finished in 48th and Walls took 68th. There were unfortunate DNFs for Sweetman, Og Mulhearne, and Condon.

The Junior Women’s Road Race saw Aliyah Rafferty finish in 45th, with Ella Tandy coming just after in 63rd.

4 Irish riders competed in the U23 Women’s Road Race this morning. Esther Wong took 49th, Emma Jeffers came in 54th, 65th for Lucy Benezet Minns, and 74th for Abi Conway.

This weekend sees the U23 Men’s Road Race, as well as the Elite Women’s Road Race taking place.
