The countdown is on! The 2026 Triathlon Ireland racing calendar has officially been announced and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet! Whether you’re a seasoned triathlete, or new to tri and looking to take on your first multisport challenge, this year’s calendar has something for everyone.
Triathlon National Series Calendar 2026
The highly anticipated Triathlon National Series returns in May 2026, bringing another summer of racing around Ireland! The series will deliver 18 rounds of racing from May to September, set against some of Ireland’s most scenic backdrops.
With races in all 4 provinces, athletes of all levels – both new and experienced – can choose from a range of distances, unique courses and scenic locations to suit their goals. Ambitious triathletes will aim for the competitive Triathlon National Series title, which is awarded at the annual Triathlon Ireland Awards.

The Triathlon National Series is open to adult athletes who want to compete for national rankings across Sprint and Standard Distance events.
To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old by December 31st to take part in Sprint Distance races, and at least 18 years old by December 31st to take part in Standard Distance races.
To qualify for the series rankings, you need to complete four races. These must include at least one Sprint Distance and one Standard Distance race. Until you meet these requirements, your name will appear in the rankings as “NYQ” (Not Yet Qualified).
Rankings are separated by gender and include both overall standings and age group categories.
You must be a full member of Triathlon Ireland to earn points in the National Series. Athletes competing under a One Day Membership (ODM) are not eligible for rankings. Relay teams are also excluded from earning points.
Duathlon National Series
Get ready to kickstart 2026 as the Triathlon Ireland Duathlon National Series returns, bringing the ultimate Run-Bike-Run challenge to some of Ireland’s best courses!
With eight rounds in 2026, the series kicks off in January at Galco Naas Duathlon and runs through to April, with the conclusion at the Duathlon National Championships taking place in April, hosted by Belpark TC’s Phoenix Park Duathlon.
Both new and experienced athletes will take on the challenge, collecting points at every event they choose to compete in – with many ambitious athletes setting their eyes on the National Series Championship title, awarded at our annual awards.
Scoring System
The series ranking is determined by the athlete’s best two series results combined with their result in the National Duathlon Championships. This ensures that consistent performance across events, as well as success at the national level, is rewarded.
Age Requirements
Sprint Distance: Athletes must be at least 16 years old by December 31st of the competition year.
Ranking System
Separate rankings are maintained based on gender of athletes.
Rankings include overall standings and age group categories, ensuring fair competition for all age brackets.
Membership Requirements
Only full members of Triathlon Ireland are eligible to compete and earn National Series points. Athletes holding a One Day Membership (ODM) are excluded from the rankings. Relay teams are not eligible to earn points or participate in the National Series rankings.
National Championships
Triathlon Ireland’s National Championship events for the 2026 season are now live. National Champion titles are up for grabs across various distance triathlons as well as aquabike, aquathlon, and duathlon events. Four Junior National Championships will be hosted between April and August to bring together Ireland’s youth triathletes. This year’s Draft Legal Sprint National Champs will take place in July, hosted by Two Provinces Triathlon.

The Triathlon Ireland National Championships are the pinnacle of domestic racing, offering athletes the chance to compete for national titles across Sprint, Standard and Middle Distance events, as well as Aquabike, Aquathlon and Duathlon.
To be eligible for a national title or to place in the official championship results, you must hold a full Triathlon Ireland membership at the time of the event. Athletes racing under a One Day Membership (ODM) are not eligible for titles or rankings. Relay teams are also excluded from National Championship results.
Age requirements apply based on distance: athletes must be at least 16 years old by December 31st to compete in Sprint Championships, and at least 18 for Standard Distance. Requirements for Middle and Long Distance may vary by event.
Results are awarded by gender across both overall and age group categories.
Winning a National Championship title is the highest accolade in domestic racing and also forms part of Team Ireland selection criteria for international age-group representation, depending on the discipline and distance
