The Turkish city of Alana was host to both a European Cup and a Para World Cup last weekend, with several Irish athletes competing in different races across the weekend.
In the Men’s PTVI category, Donncha McCarthy and guide Sean Husband finished in 4th place narrowly missing out on the podium position to GB’s Oscar Kelly.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s PTVI category, Chloe MacCombe and her guide Catherine Sands took home third place, while Judith MacCombe and her guide Anne Paul finished in 4th place to complete a strong weekend for Triathlon’s para-athletes.
In the Men’s Elite European Cup race, James Edgar had the best result of the three Irish athletes in attendance. Exiting the water in 3rd position, the small breakaway group was caught, and a crash with a kilometre to go saw him lose time in to T2. Edgar ran himself back to 19th position; while Jonathan Oakey and Luke McCarron finished in 28th and 46th position respectively, adding more international race experience to their repertoire.
