Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt clinched victory in the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series™, claiming the title for the first time and taking home a bonus payout of $200,000 USD. Casper Stornes (NOR) and Kristian Høgenhaug (DEN) completed the men’s IRONMAN Pro Series podium, receiving a bonus payout of $130,000 USD and $85,000 USD respectively.
Belgium’s Jelle Geens made it back-to-back IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship victories on Sunday, edging out Blummenfelt by just three seconds, the second closest finish in the history of the event, with Stornes a minute behind in third. The result meant that Blummenfelt earned 2,997 IRONMAN Pro Series points, replacing his 1,812 from April’s Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside on the scoresheet, and securing him the 2025 title, with a total of 21,200 points.
Kristian Blummenfelt entered the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series with a legacy few could rival – an Olympic Gold Medal, IRONMAN World Championship title, and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship title. Yet the Norwegian star showed no signs of resting on past accolades, launching into the season with a clear mission: to capture the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series title.
On his way to the title, Blummenfelt claimed victories at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship, IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence, and the Mainova IRONMAN Frankfurt European Championship triathlons, each time delivering dominant performances that earned him maximum points. His third-place finish at the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice added 5,703 points to his tally, keeping him atop the standings, and firmly in contention for the overall title.
Blummenfelt’s only off-podium result came early in the year at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside, where a flat tire on the bike derailed his race. Despite the setback, he posted a new run course best to claw back to 15th place and secure 1,812 points – his lowest scoring race of the season. The Oceanside score was dropped following his haul of 2,997 in Marbella, as each IRONMAN Pro Series contender’s final score is an aggregate of their best five performances only.
While the top two in the standings stayed in the same order as they started the final day of the season, it was full of movement below them, with positions three through 15 all shifting as the athletes streamed across the finish line and the seconds ticked by on the beach in Marbella.
Kristian Høgenhaug started the day in sixth position, but with his 2,186 points in Marbella moved up to third overall. Australia’s Nick Thompson was another hard charger on Sunday, jumping four places into fourth overall, finishing just 115 points off the podium.
Gustav Iden (NOR) dropped two places to fifth, with Rudy Von Berg (USA) moving up to sixth and Jonas Schomburg (DEU) climbing six places to end the year in seventh overall. Finland’s Henrik Goesch climbed into eighth, with both Leon Chevalier (FRA) and Jonas Hoffmann (DEU), who did not race in Marbella this Sunday, both dropping five places to finish ninth and 10th respectively.
