As the Irish road racing season gains momentum, the spotlight shifts to the scenic roads of North Mayo and Galway for the Brian O’Loughlin Memorial, promoted by Cunga Cycling Club. Scheduled for Sunday, June 8th, this event marks Round 10 of the National Grade Series, attracting a competitive field eager to tackle on of the west’s most picturesque and demanding circuits.
Race Info
Sign on opens at 9am with race starting at 11am. Each lap spans approximately 28.5km, guiding riders through Clonbur, the rolling terrain of Cloughbrack, a descent into Cornamons and along the shores of Lough Corrib before returning to Cong.
- C1 – 4 laps (114km)
- C2/Juniors – 3 laps (85.5km)
- C3 – 2 laps (57km)
The course’s combination of rolling hills, coastal winds and strategic descents demands both physical endurance and tactical acumen. Riders should be prepared for aggressive racing, with opportunities for breakaways and challengers in maintaining group cohesion.
