The first round of the 2025 Triathlon National Series certainly didn’t disappoint with sunshine and stacked fields. With a rolling start into the River Suir to start, the action unfolded against the clock, with the final results emerging after the field has crossed the finish line.
The fields for both the men’s and women’s races were stacked for the sold-out Triathlon National Series opener.
Wyer Wins Season Opener
Naas TC’s Aisling Wyer had a stellar season last year, and has begun 2025 in the same fashion. Coming off the bike at the front of the field, Aisling held her position to cross the finish line in 1:03:55. Duathlon National Series Winner Aine Kinsella was on form after a busy winter season, looking strong throughout and taking the second step on the podium in 1:04:15. Pulse TC’s Kim Hickey is always one to watch, and today was no exception, completing the sprint distance course in 1:06:47.
Donal Mongey Triumphs in Convincing Style
It was a super day for Naas Triathlon Club, winning both the men’s and women’s races. Donal Mongey was right in the mix coming out of the water, and moved to the front after putting in the fastest bike split of the day. Donal held his T2 position lead all the way to the line, crossing in 57:12. Christopher Horgan from Mallow TC finished third in this Winter’s Duathlon National Series, and today claimed the second spot on the podium in 58:27.
