Carlow Duathlon Race Report

ByEmma Porter |

With only two rounds left in the Duathlon National Series, The Carlow Duathlon saw fierce competition as athletes pushed for valuable points on a flat and fast course. Hosted by Carlow Triathlon Club, the event returns in 2025 after being awarded ‘Race of the Year’ last season.

Over 150 athletes took to the start line, while weather conditions were dry, with strong winds adding to the challenge.

Men’s Podium

It was a dominant display from Donal Mongey, who set a competitive pace to take first place in under an hour. His strong 14:50 opening run gave him an early lead, which he held onto through the cycle and final run. Christopher Horgan put up a strong fight, particularly in the second run to secure second place, while Enda Bagnall rounded out the podium in third place with another strong performance.
