Crooked Lake Triathlon Race Report

Over 300 athletes gathered at Camlough Lake in south Armagh to take on the Crooked Lake Triathlon. The race kicked off with 2 waves in the picturesque lake and the athletes set off on the race for the National Championship title.

The race took place on Saturday, June 8th, beginning with a single lap swim around the lake, followed by a bike route towards Camlough village and concluding with the run at the lakeside, where the athletes were greeted by supporters at the finish line.

Men’s Podium

  1. Russell White: 00:55:51
  2. Pearse Gallagher: 00:56:51
  3. Mathys Bocquet: 00:57:09

Russell White made a return to Ireland for his first domestic race of the season after securing a podium finish in the Asia Triathlon Cup Burabay last month. He claimed first place with a time of 00:55:51. The swim segment was intensely competitive with White, Pearse Gallagher & Mathys Bocquet in the lead. Bocquet finished the swim leg with a time of 00:09:36, just one second ahead. Pearse Gallagher secured 2nd place, finishing strong with a time of 00:56:51, while Mathys Bocquet rounded out the podium in 3rd place with a time of 00:09:36.

Women’s Podium

  1. Aisling Wyer: 01:04:51
  2. Catherine Sands: 01:06:07
  3. Helen Perry: 01:06:33

Aisling Wyer tops the podium again, claiming 1st place with a time of 01:04:51 just a week after her podium finish at TriAthy, where she claimed 2nd place in the National Series Olympic Distance race. In the women’s race, Wyer took an early lead with the swim, completing the single lap in 00:11:15. She was followed by Catherine Sands, who finished the swim in 00:12:11. Sands then dominated the cycling leg of the race with the fastest time of 00:30:30, closely followed by Helen Perry, just 3 seconds behind. Perry secured 3rd place with the fastest run, 00:20:14 for the two-lap route.
