Draft Legal Racing Coming to Athy

ByEmma Porter |

The biggest race of the early season will feature the biggest prize purse in Irish triathlon this year as TriAthy hosts the 2023 Draft Legal Sprint Distance National Championships on June 3rd.

Like last year’s event in Dublin, a total of €10,000 in prize money will be up for grabs between the men’s and women’s Draft Legal Sprint Distance races as Ireland’s best elite athletes take on a host of international competition.

Three Races: Elite, Junior, National Series.

Alongside the Elite (senior) Draft Legal race, TriAthy will also host the 2023 Junior National Champs and Round 2 of the Triathlon National Series.

The junior national champs will be run within the Draft Legal race with competitors racing directly against senior elite athletes but with a separate podium.

The Triathlon National Series event is the main TriAthy sprint distance race, run as a non-drafting event and one of the biggest triathlons in the country.

It will decide Sprint Distance Age Group medals and is also a qualification race for Tri Team Ireland.

The overall male and female winners of the National Series event will not be Sprint Distance Champions (Elite or Junior) however as this title will be conferred on the winners of the Draft Legal Event.
