Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly solidified their partnership to win gold in the time trial at the Huntsville Para World Cup in Alabama yesterday, adding to the golds they won in rounds one and two of the Para-cycling World Cup.
Dunlevy and Kelly dominated proceedings, recoding a time of 37:50.63 over the 29.6km course, over half a minute quicker than their nearest competitors. Teammates, Josephine Healion and Eve McCrystal took fifth place in the same event.
European time trial champion Ronan Grimes finished just outside the medals, just 14 seconds behind the bronze medal time to take fourth in the C4 category.
New male tandem pairing for this year Damien Vereker and Mitchell McLaughlin recorded their best result of the season finishing in fifth place in the time trial.
The rest of the squad put in strong performances in Saturday’s time trial, including a 5th for Richael Timothy in C3, 9th in C2 for Chris Burns, an 18th place finish for Declan Slevin (H3) and a 13th place finish for Allistair MacSorely.
Competition continues today, Sunday for Slevin and MacSorely as the focus switches to the road race events. On Monday, the rest of the squad will be in action in the road races where the team will hope to continue their strong form in the final World Cup of the season.
