Edgar’s Easter World Triathlon Indoor Cup

ByEmma Porter |

James Edgar’s journey continued over the Easter weekend with the 2024 World Triathlon Indoor Cup in Lievin.

The indoor event is hosted within an Arena in front of a crowd of 5,000 people. The swim takes place in a purpose built 25m pool, with the bike and run taking place on the indoor running track. The distance raced was short and sharp with only a 150m swim, 3km bike, and 1km run. Races are held in six groups of up to twelve, meaning athletes will get to take on between two and four races depending on how they progress through the field.

Edgar has previously raced well over the indoor format, finishing 5th in the 2022 European Indoor Triathlon Cup. He appeared to be in similar form again coasting through qualifier race 6 in first position.

The opening round win put him in semi-final 3, skipping the men’s repechage. Finishing 5th in the 3rd semi-final Edgar was narrowly denied a place in the Elite Men’s Final, with the top 4 from each semi-final going through. He ultimately finished 12th in the Men’s B Final, despite his semi-final time being faster than the fastest four from semi-final 2.

His focus now turns to the 2024 E World Triathlon Championships London powered by Zwift on April 13th.
