Cycling Ireland has invited expressions of interest are now open to represent Ireland for the 2025 UEC European Track Championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium from the 12th to the 16th of February.

The event marks the first major Championships to be hosted at the recently built velodrome nestled in the Zolder motor racing complex, which is also home to a world class BMX track. Last year’s event was held in Apeldoorn and saw a best result for the Team with 4th in the Women’s Team Pursuit as part of their Olympic qualifying journey.

The selection process is in the published ‘Selection Policy’ available HERE in the ‘High Performance’ section of the Cycling Ireland website. The expression of interest is now via an online form which can be accessed HERE, and is accompanied by the Guidance Notes to help candidate athletes complete the form correctly, which can be found HERE.

Candidate athletes have until midnight on Sunday 5th January to submit their expressions of interest, and selection will take place in the days that follow.

Cycling Ireland National Track Coach, Dan Henchy said, “With the Paris Olympics firmly in the rear-view mirror, we approach the 2025 UEC Elite Track Euros with the ambition to kickstart our preparation for LA 2028. For established riders, we’re looking to build a track record of success, in a sense we need to consolidate winning habits. For riders newer to the track, we’re looking to accelerate their development so that we can increase our internal competition and be ready for a strong start to Games Qualification in 2027. Our selection aims reflect this, with the intention to take a team to compete for medals, while also providing opportunity for promising riders to get a first elite track championship experience.”
