Galco Naas Duathlon Race 2 Race Report

On Sunday, the 25th of February, more than 120 athletes gathered in Punchestown Race Course, to take on the second Galco Naas Duathlon of the season. The race kicked off with a mass start and the athletes began their first 3.2 km run around the perimeter of the race course.

Luke McMullan from Belpark Triathloin Club was first into T1, with the fastest run time of 00:10:03. A chasing pack followed close behind, led by Isaac Kerr, who completed the run in 00:10:16

Moving out of T1, the athletes tackled the 19 km cycle to Blessington Roundabout and back.
James Graham from Peninsula Triathlon Club completed the fastest cycle, of 00:30:11 and earned himself the lead position coming into T2.

Graham continued to lead on the second run, which followed the same 3.2 km lap. Graham maintained his lead and crossed the finish line first with an overall time of 00:53:44. Kieran Regan and Luke Mcmullan followed soon after and claimed 2nd and 3rd place.

Waterford’s Aine Kinsella was the first woman across the finish line, with an overall time of 01:05:14, soon followed by Leonie Dolan and Aoife Mulry.

Galco Naas Duathlon Series will return on Sunday 31st March for thier third race of the series.
