Westport, Mayo

Taking place over the 17th and 18th of September, Gravel Grind West incorporates the Skelp Blast, the Bothy, the Wild Nephin, and the Wild Nephin Rocky, to bring you a weekend of off-road cycling and adventure in County Mayo.

With new routes for 2022, there is something for everyone. Whether you decide to take on just one event or take on the Skelp Blast on Saturday and one of the Sunday events to make it a weekend to remember on two wheels, be sure to bring your Race Face!

Saturday – The Skelp Blast

The Skelp Blast is an off-road 26.5K timed challenge up over the Skelp pass and around a fabulous course at the back of Croagh Patrick. The route terrain varies suiting all off-road and gravel bikes.

Sunday – The Bothy

If you are new to gravel or just want something a bit shorter than the Wild Nephin then why not try the 70k BOTHY? It has most of the thrills and spills of the Wild Nephin but is covered in 60k. The route suits all off-road and gravel bikes.

Sunday – The Wild Nephin:

A 110 km event starting at the Quay  Westport  via the Great Western Greenway to Furnace lakes outside Newport toward the Bangor trail and then home. It is challenging, remote, off-road with amazing scenery. The route suits all off-road and gravel bikes.

Sunday – The Wild Nephin Rocky:

A 135 km event starting at the Quay  Westport  via the Great Western Greenway to Furnace lakes outside Newport toward the Bangor trail and then home. It is challenging, remote, off-road with amazing scenery. The route suits all off-road and gravel bikes.
