Four Irish Triathletes were in international action over the course of the weekend.
Elizabeth Carr raced to fourth at the 2024 Americas Triathlon Cup and South Americas Triathlon Championships La Guaira, Venezuela. The competition was tight from the gun, with several athletes exiting T2 out on to the run together. Carr crossed the finish line in 4th, a mere six seconds from 2nd place, and only four seconds from the podium after over two hours of racing.
The result sees Carr climb another 8 places in the World Rankings to number 125. Her next race will take place on the 11th of May, at the 2024 Americas Triathlon Cup Iquique, Chile.
Shannon Kelly was in action at the 2024 Asia Triathlon Cup & South Asian Triathlon Championships Pokhara, Nepal, finishing 7th overall in the sprint distance race. Her next outing will be the 2024 Asia Triathlon Cup Taizhou, China, on the 11th of May.
Russell White and James Edgar were 29th and 34th respectively to complete a hard day’s racing at the 2024 World Triathlon Cup Chengdu, China. The Olympic Distance race featured a two lap lake swim, rolling and technical bike course of six 6.6k laps, and a four lap out and back run.
Edgar will reset his focus for the 2024 Asia Triathlon Cup Taizhou, China, on the 11th of May, where he will be joined by Jonathan Oakey and Shannon Kelly. While White will set his sights on the 2024 World Triathlon Cup Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on the 18th of May, where he’ll be joined by a large Irish contingent who are set to take on the World Triathlon Cup and the World Para Triathlon Cup.
