Ireland Adds Three Silver to European Para Swimming Medal Haul

The last day of the European Championships brought in three more medals for Ireland bringing the final haul to 12 overall, the most that Ireland has ever won at a single tournament.

Ellen Keanewas first up for Ireland on the last day of the Para Swimming European Championships. In a race that featured the World Champion she came second in a time of 1:24.19 to win Ireland’s 10th medal of the championships.

Speaking after her final Keane said, “I think I gave it my all there, I don’t think I held anything back.”

Ní Riain was second up for Ireland and powered home to win silver also, her fifth medal of the championships.

Speaking after her final Ní Riain said, “It was a long week but some good racing, loads of things to take away over the next couple of months so that’s definitely a positive.”

Turner and Brady finished out the week for Ireland in the 50m butterfly final. Brady was unlucky to miss out on her second medal of the championship, finishing a close fourth to Maisie Summers-Newton.

Turner claimed the silver spot, her third medal of the championships.

Speaking after her final Turner said, “I guess you could call us the Silver Sisters at this stage! I’m really happy with that, I’m pretty sure it’s a season best for me.”
