Ireland’s European Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships Round Up

Ireland had seven swimmers in action over the weekend at the 2024 European Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Vienna, Austria.

Representing Ireland were Ronan Fahey (Trojan), Darragh Horgan (National Centre Limerick), Denis O’Brien (National Centre Limerick), Tadhg O’Brien (Dolphin SC), Ella Carroll (National Centre Limerick), Abby Cunningham (Kilkenny), and Sorcha Ní Riain (Limerick).

In the boys 14-15 5k event, Tadhg O’Brien finished in 24th place in 1:04:26.50. The girls 14-15 5k saw Abby Cunningham claim 27th place in 1:09:01.85 and Sorcha Ní Riain take 28th place in 1:12:13.35.

The boys 16-17 7.5k race saw Denis O’Brien finish in 18th place with a time of 1:31:30.80, with Darragh Horgan in 31st with a time of 1:34:11.37.

The girls 18-19 10k was raced by Ella Carroll, who completed the 10k distance in 2:37:55.33 for 24th place.
