Irish Para Athletics Team Shine at Paris Grand Prix

The 2025 Para athletics Paris Grand Prix has wrapped up at the Charlety Stadium with multiple successes for the Irish team, including numerous personal and season’s best performances.

A strong team of eight, including two newcomers from the Para Athletics Academy travelled to the French capital for the three-day event.

There were strong performances across the board with Orla Comerford impressing in the T13 class, running a personal best in the 200m and dominating the 100m. Meanwhile, Lana Sutton delivered a standout performance, defeating a world-class field in the T38 100m and setting a personal best in the 200m.

Brandon Ballard took to the track in the 1500m and broke the four-minute barrier for the first time, clocking an impressive 3:57.

There was also impressive performances from the team debutants with academy athletes Fionán Ruane and Charlie Byrne stepping up on the international stage. Byrne ran a huge personal best in the T37 200m.

“A huge credit goes to the athletes, their coaches, and the excellent work being done in their home training environments,” said James Nolan, Head of Paralympic Athletics. “It’s been a busy few days—but incredibly successful.”
