Four Ratoath BMX riders are set taking part in the BMX European Championships in Latvia this weekend. All four will ride in the Challenge categories.
Recent 15-29 National Champion Reuben Byrne will be the oldest of the Irish contingent, competing in the Male 16 Challenge category. Reuben is joined at this championships by younger brother Noah, riding in the Male 13 Challenge category, along with teammate Kurts Storkis. Ryan Racak rounds out the Irish contingent in Latvia, riding in the Male 11 Challenge category.

Three of the four riders will then head to Denmark for the BMX World Championships from 28th of July to August 3rd.
33 Irish riders in total have been registered for the BMX World Championships, all competing in Challenge classes.
This World Championship comes off the back of both Reuben Byrne and Carly Hayes taking their respective National Championships in Lucan last weekend. The pair, along with Summer Glynn, have spent significant time competing in the UK in recent years, gaining experience against some of Europe’s best talent.
Byrne and Hayes, while still not yet Junior riders, have been working closely with Cycling Ireland High Performance Pathway staff, with a view to entering the Pathway when they make the step up to Junior next year.
Both will be returning to the UK to compete in the British Championship in late August, where Carly Hayes will attempt to defend her title, before she heads to the final rounds of the European Cup in Czechia in early September.
