Ireland have confirmed their team for the final of the Mixed 4x400m relay final at the European Athletics Championships which takes place tonight (June 7th) at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome at 9:20pm.
Christopher O’Donnell (North Sligo AC), Rhasidat Adeleke (Tallaght AC), Thomas Barr (Ferrybank AC) and Sharlene Mawdsley (Newport AC) will run in that order as they look to secure a European medal in the event.
The squad has had plenty of success at major championships making the Olympic final in 2021, world finals in 2022 and 2023 and most recently winning bronze at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas, where they sealed their place at this year’s Paris Olympic Games running national records on successive days.
Earlier in the evening Eric Favors (Raheny Shamrocks AC) will aim to secure a European final berth in the Men’s Shot Put, when his qualification gets underway from 6:55pm.
Ireland’s fastest man Israel Olatunde (Tallaght AC) will settle into his blocks at 8:18pm for his 100m heat, while Jodie McCann (Dublin City Harriers) will round out the Irish involvement on Day One in the final of the Women’s 5000m at 9:40pm.
