Limerick Crowned Mixed Team Relay National Champions in Lough Cutra

The customary excitement and freneticism of the Mixed Team Relay was given an additional shot in the arm on Saturday afternoon with the injection of Triathlon Ireland’s  High Performance athletes, competing for practice ahead of the European Games in Poland next month and as a test event for the Mixed Relay in Paris next year.

The race of course is also a Club National Championship and the fastest club on the day was Limerick TC, made up of Ronan Costello, Sinead Walsh, Ross Higgins and Shauna Doelken O’Shea.

Galway TC came home in second place, followed closely behind by Naas in 3rd.The Junior National Mixed Relay Championships were won by Predator TC Falcons, ahead of Team Athy Juniors and Predator TC Hawks in a hotly contested and superb race.

Aquathlon National Championships

The other national title up for decision at Lough Cutra on Saturday was the Aquathlon National Champs – a the glory grabbed by Jack Kennedy and Vanessa Fenton. Christopher Hogan and Caitlin McDonald claimed silver medals whilst the bronze medal positions were secured by Ernest Asensio and Ciara Wilson.
