Erin McConnell & Hollie Elliott wrapped up the season for Team Ireland at the 2024 World Triathlon Cup Miyazaki last weekend. Elliott made her Team Ireland debut securing 14th place with a time of 01:01:22, while McConnell placed 18th (01:02:48) in the race after an unfortunate crash entering T2.
Hollie Elliott joins the Irish senior elite women’s squad for the first time after a season of competing as a neutral athlete, having previously represented Great Britain.
McConnell produced a strong swim to exit the water on the shoulders of the race leader, with Elliott hot on her heels. The duo were both well positioned out on the bike course with a large pack staying together throughout, despite several breakaway attempts.
McConnell suffered an unfortunate crash entering T2 causing her to add some time through transition. Soldiering on, she crossed the line in 18th place overall for her best result at World Cup level to date. Elliott produced a strong run to finish in 14th position.
