World Triathlon Cup Tiszaujvaros: Erin McConnell P11
Erin McConnell delivered a standout performance at the World Triathlon Cup in Tiszaujvaros yesterday, securing 11th place which marks her best result to date at World Cup level. McConnell progressed comfortably to Sunday’s final after a strong semi-final on Saturday, where she finished in 2nd place with a time of 00:57:50.
In the final, Erin established a spot in the chase pack out of the swim and worked in the group throughout the bike leg. Heading out of T2, McConnell’s chase pack was set to chase down the lead pack of three that included eventual winner Lisa Tertsch (GER). Finishing in 11th, McConnell secured a career best in a world class field.
Erin reflected on her weekend, sharing, “Both Saturday’s semi-final and Sunday’s final were very different races, both tough but fun. Slightly disappointed with my swim yesterday in the final, but it was great to have a strong pack to work with on the bike. I struggled with a few stitches on the run, but overall I’m really happy with my result and proud of myself. I’ve been training hard, and it’s all coming together nicely. Excited for the second half of the season!”
