Following on from the success earlier this weekend from MacCombe and Sands, and McCarthy and Husband, at the World Triathlon Championships, Erin McConnell was in action in the Women’s U23 Standard Distance race.
A stacked Under 23 Women’s field got Friday morning’s action underway in Abu Dhabi. Erin McConnell was on the start line for Ireland in her first standard distance of the 2022 season.
Out of the swim in the second pack, Erin travelled in the chase pack throughout the eight lap, 40 kilometre bike course, working hard in a large group.
Eventually finishing 24th in a time of 2:07:53, one place higher than her result in Edmonton last year, McConnell will have picked up valuable experience at the level still with one more year in the U23 category.
