McConnell Takes Silver in Morocco

Erin McConnell took silver at the Africa Triathlon Premium Cup Larache in Morocco this past weekend. McConnell had a strong swim, leading the race into T1. Exiting T1 in the front pack, she produced a solid bike and run to race to a podium finish.

McConnell was 5th in the same race just over a year ago, highlighting the improvements she’s made in the past twelve months alone. Next in her sights is the World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships taking place in Hamburg, Germany, this weekend, before focusing on the Europe Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships Balikesir, Turkey, in early August. McConnell is joined in Hamburg by Ralf Bodamer, Jonathan Oakey, and Saoirse O’Brien for the Under 23 Mixed Team Relay. Meanwhile, Mathys Bocquet will also racce in Hamburg, having qualified for the Junior Men’s World Champs in Hamburg.

Also competing in Morocco were Jonathan Oakey and Chloe Pollard. While Pollard, unfortunately, DNF’d, Oakey finished a respectable 9th.
