McSharry’s Southeastern Conference Success

ByEmma Porter |

Mona McSharry was back in the pool this weekend representing the University of Tennesse at the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

She started the weekend by claiming her first freestyle conference medal in the 50 yard freestyle. Her time of 21.72 seconds over the 50 yard distance, similar to 45m, placed her 2nd in the final, and also brought her to 4th on the all-time university (of Tennesse’s) list.

She continued her medal winning form by defending her SEC title in the 100 yard breaststroke, setting a meet record of 57.25. She’s the first female representative from Tennesse to successfully defend a title over back-to-back years.

McSharry then went on to claim the 200 yard breaststroke to sweep the breaststroke events for the week.
