Team Ireland’s para triathletes delivered standout performances on the world stage at the World Triathlon Para Series in Montreal, claiming three medals: one silver and two bronze.
Silver for Tom Williamson
Tom Williamson continued his success streak with a standout performance at the World Triathlon Para Series in Montreal, claiming the silver medal for Team Ireland.
Ranked 6th in the world heading into the race, Tom executed a strong and consistent performance across all three disciplines to secure his second consecutive World Series podium, following his P2 finish last month in Taranto.
Williamson exited the water alongside Paris Paralympian Felipe Marques, but a powerful bike leg saw him break away and produce the 2nd fastest bike of the race. Heading into the run in P2, Tom continued his good form on the last leg to secure a runner-up finish.
Bronze for Chloe MacCombe & Aisling Wyer
Chloe MacCombe returned to the World Triathlon Para Series podium with a bronze medal in Montreal, her second bronze Para Series medal of the season, following Devonport.
MacCombe and guide Aisling Wyer took to the start line of their second race together to deliver a strong performance as a new pairing. Their dominant bike leg put the duo to the front of the field after exiting the water in 5th place, and they maintained their form on the run to secure a medal.
Chloe & Aisling showcased a promising partnership building on their P5 finish at last month’s European Championships, where they debuted as a pairing.
Back-to-back bronze for Donnacha McCarthy & guide Sean Husband
Donnacha McCarthy and guide Sean Husband claimed their first World Triathlon Para Series podium in Montreal, earning a bronze medal after a strong performance.
The result marks back-to-back bronze medals for the pair after a two-week racing block in Canada, following their P3 finish at the World Triathlon Para Cup in Magog last weekend.
Climbing through the field with a fast bike leg, McCarthy and Husband held their pace on the run to secure a well-earned place on the podium.
Judith MacCombe & guide Eimear Nicholls finish 4th
Judith MacCombe guided by Eimear Nicholls returned to World Triathlon Para Series action in Montreal following a bronze medal in Taranto and a first championship medal at the European Para Triathlon Championships last month.
The pair produced their trademark strong bike, clocking the second fastest time of the race, and continued the momentum into a strong run to secure a solid 4th place finish.
