The 2025 edition of Tri-Tyrone, held on Sunday, 27th July in Dungannon, brought intense competition to a course known for its flat profile and fast times. Hosted by TriLimits Triathlon Club, the race marked the 10th round of the Triathlon National Series, as well as hosting this year’s Middle Distance National Championship. Over 300 athletes gathered at the start line, drawing some of Ireland’s most competitive triathletes and producing course records across both the men’s and women’s fields.
Cashmore Wins in Tyrone
A competitive men’s field pushed the pace throughout the day. Malachi Cashmore (GB) claimed overall victory in a time of 3:51:04, an impressive performance that not only secured first place but also surpassed the previous course record of 3:58:29. Cashmore’s strong swim placed him ahead of the field, where he stayed for the bike leg. A solid run sealed the win for Malachi Cashmore.
David Higgins claimed the National Championship title and finished second overall with a time of 3:52:24, also under the previous course record, affirming the depth of this year’s field. Higgins produced the fastest bike of the race to secure his title. Adam Ward of Strabane Triathlon Club followed his top ten finish at the draft-legal sprint champs at Two Provinces, completing the podium in 3:57:12. Matthew Kinkaid rounded out the Irish National Championship podium, also securing more valuable points towards his Triathlon National Series rankings.

Becky won in 4:23:36 to also break the previous Tri-Tyrone course record set by Hilary Hughes in 2022. This dominant showing follows her recent National Series win at Two Provinces, and confirms Woods as a strong contender for the Triathlon National Series title.
Aisling Wyer (Naas TC) claimed second in 4:25:26, also under the previous record, while Aoibh Clarke rounded out the top three in 4:25:51.
Clarke was the early leader after establishing a swim and bike lead of over three minutes. However once on the run course both Woods and Wyer got to work to close that gap down, moving into the first two places on the podium.
