The 2024 Pikeman Triathlon took place on September 15th in Rosslare, Wexford, covering a standard distance with a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, and 10 km run. The event saw some fierce competition as athletes from across the country vied for national series and national champs titles.

The race conditions were unfavourable, with wet weather conditions adding a challenge to the day. The swim kicked off on the beach, with athletes covering a single lap before heading into T1. The competitors set off on the 40km bike course, after heading into T2 and along a coastal route for the run. The race was a key event in the national series calendar and will solidify the overall series standings for 2024.

Christopher Mintern & Saoirse O’Brien battled the course and adverse weather conditions to claim 1st place, with a time of 01:48:52 and 02:03:13 respectively. Saoirse O’Brien put in an impressive performance, leading the race throughout and producing the fastest time for all 3 splits in the women’s race.

In the men’s race, Donal Sheehy was first out of the swim, just under 2 minutes ahead of Christopher Mintern with a time of 00:18:30. Christopher Mintern led the bike, finishing in a time of 00:51:05 followed by a run in 00:35:04 to claim the title.
