Are you gone mad for gravel, looking for an event to test your skills and endurance whilst having fun off-road, then check out the Newport Rocky Mountain High enduro-style gravel event taking place on the 4th of March.
With a 40k and 60k route there is a mix of all terrains and is suitable for all abilities and any off-road bike. Start and finish outside hotel Newport and take the wiry hills route through the Furnace lakes, up onto the gravel track of the Rocky mountain way and return via the greenway and Nephin drive. With views of the Glendahurk horseshoe to your left and the majestic Clewbay to your right this scenic route is one to savor.
The event will have 2 timed gravel sections, each section will be named and marked, and a timing mat will record your time, you don’t have to race these sections but the option is there to race your buddies and see who can cross the line first. The person who records the fastest times over the timed sections will be the overall winner – enduro-style, meaning the first bike back to the finish may not be the event winner.
