Westportif adds junior cycle to weekend line up cycling events.

Westportif cycling weekend takes place this Saturday and Sunday June 26th and 27th in the
the adventure capital town of Ireland. Saturday’s Sportif events kick off at 9am from Towers Bar and restaurant at the Quay in Westport with waves leaving every 30 minutes.

Participants will cover 80km or150km taking in some of the breath-taking scenery around Aughagower, the shores of Lough Mask, Tourmakeady, Mweelrea (Connacht’s highest mountain), Leenane, Ashleigh Falls, Killary Fjord, Doolough, Louisburg and Croagh Patrick.

Sunday is family day, with a new Westportif Junior event starting at 10:30am featuring a treasure hunt cycle using the Coast road and the West road greenway, families have to work out various puzzles before they can move on to the next station. Exploring some real gems including Sunnyside, the Greenway Graveyard, the Skate Park and the Beehive Hotel, there is a great adventure in store.

The new Treasure cycle event is great value at just €25 per family with a free goodie bag for all children who take part. Children aged 2-13 are welcome to join the fun on two wheels whether on a bike, scooter, skater, trike, tagalong and even a bike trailer, as long as everyone is wearing a helmet. There are 2 routes to choose from; a 2k option for the under 5 year olds and a 10k option for those older children.
