Olatunde Lowers Irish Sprint Record

ByEmma Porter |

Israel Olatunde (Tallaght AC) has lowered his own Irish 100m record with a stunning 10.12 at the NEB Open in London earlier today.

The time saw Olatunde cross the finish in first place ahead of the British pair of Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and Stephen Baffour into second and third. Today’s performance see’s Olatunde take 0.05 off his previous national record which was set in the final of the European Athletics Championships in Munich back in 2022.

Olatunde collected his third straight national senior outdoor title back in June, having bowed out at the semi-final stage of the European Championships (10.40) just two weeks earlier.

Olatunde cements his position as Ireland’s fastest man as his continues to build on the 2022 performance that saw him surpass Paul Hession’s long-standing mark of 10.18 which was set back in 2007.
