The SPAR European Cross Country Championships which takes place at the Sport Ireland Campus on December 12th will welcome one of the superstars of European and World athletics with confirmation that Olympic 1500m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen will compete for his native Norway.  Jakob will make his senior European cross country debut alongside his older brother, Filip, who took home the senior gold medal at the 2018 edition of these championships.

In 2019, at 19 years of age, Jakob Ingebrigtsen claimed his fourth gold medal in succession at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships, finishing comfortably clear of his nearest opposition in the junior race. The Ingebrigtson name is synonymous with European cross country running, with the Norwegian brothers having won all European Cross Country titles available, including Jakob at junior (4 times), Henrik at U23 (2012) and Filip at senior (2018).

In addition to the Ingebrigtsens, Fingal-Dublin is also looking forward to the arrival of Frenchman Jimmy Gressier, who scored a hat-trick in the U21s between 2017 and 2019 and is now looking for a first medal among the seniors. World 5000m bronze medallist Konstanze Klosterhalfen will also be touching down in Fingal on December 12th after taking an unopposed gun-to-tape victory at the Sparkassen-Cross in Pforzheim on Sunday (28).
